Leadership Team CEO - Paul Gaffney Paul is an experienced business executive who has spent 30 years in industry, running both large and small organisations. After an initial career on the gold and diamond mines of South Africa, he moved into the IT sector, joining IBM as a systems engineer. From there he gained experience across all functions of the business including: project management, marketing, business development, contracting, operations and consulting, eventually having responsibility for the e-business consulting team across Northern Europe. Paul then joined the Board of Racal Telecom heading up their internet division until its acquisition by Global Crossing. Following this, he joined the executive leadership team of Aspective as the Vice President of both its Managed Services Division and Consulting Division. Paul’s last Corporate role was as Global Director of Outsourcing and Managed Services development for Dell Corp., where he had responsibility for driving innovation and long term strategy for $650M of revenue per annum. Paul is now bring his business expertise to Organisations and helped DMWS transform into a diverse business with multiple contracts providing medical welfare provision in established and new business areas. Paul lives in Hampshire and has 3 grown up children. Strategic Relations Director - Nicky Murdoch MBE Nicky Murdoch joined DMWS in June 2011 having spent time in the Army specialising in the arena of Human Resources, Operations and Training. During this time she worked in appointments as diverse as specialist intelligence to military music. Prior to this she spent two years with the youth education charity, SkillForce that delivers an alternative curriculum in schools to children who are disengaged from Education. Her role with SkillForce was to design, develop and deliver a recovery programme for the wounded, injured and sick of the 3 services to help them return to work or employment. The Intern Programme delivered 67 interns by providing them with training and work placements alongside SkillForce Instructors to assist with their recovery. 11 of these interns successfully transitioned in to civilian life and employment in SkillForce as Instructors. This programme was the forerunner to the current Defence Recovery Capability and was an ideal transition in to her current role. In her spare time she is a member of Farnham Operatic Society but cannot now manage the moves, costumes, words and music all at the same time so she sings with a choir where she can simply look at the music! Nicky supports the “Fountain Centre” at the Royal Surrey County Hospital which provides complementary therapies and support to patients and their families who are suffering with Cancer. She is currently Chair of the Farnham Music Festival. She is a Chartered Fellow and Chartered Manager of the CMI, a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, Institute of Welfare and the Royal Society of Arts and is studying for a Masters in Executive Coaching and Leadership. Commercial Director - Lisa Leece MSc, DipWS Lisa joined DMWS in April 2014 and as part of DMWS organisational development, became Commercial Director in November 2017. Lisa is responsible for new business; identifying opportunities, engaging partner organisations, developing ideas, building fully costed service models and delivery plans, and identifying and securing project funding. Lisa is also responsible for the project and organisational performance framework, collating and analysing data, outcomes, and benefits of DMWS, for which she developed a bespoke service user management system, which includes operational and strategic performance outcomes. Lisa has extensive experience in strategic and operational development and performance management across voluntary, public and private sectors. Lisa supported young people in business with Princes Trust and Young Enterprise, and led cross sector, multi-agency partnerships to successfully deliver improvements in health, social care, wellbeing, and education services for children, young people and families. She improved inspection outcomes for children & young peoples’ services, developed and implemented commissioning processes, and managed multi-million pound government & European funding. Lisa gained her MSc in Management, Diploma in Welfare Studies, and is studying L7 CMI Strategic Leadership & Management. Lisa is married with one son, and is a Grandma. In her spare time she sings with a Ladies Barbershop Chorus, and enjoys an active, traditional countryside home life in North Wales.
