We are delighted to announce that former DMWS trustee Sue Liburd was awarded an MBE in the 2016 New Years Honours List. Sue, who served as Trustee of DMWS for 2 years was recognised for her services to business, charities and voluntary organisations.

She has enjoyed a varied career including serving in ther Army as a nurse for seven years, based in places including Hong Kong, Cyprus and Germany.  She now runs a successful chage management business Sage Blue. She was also awarded the International Businesswoman of the year 2004 by the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners.

On receipt of the honour, Sue said: “I’m honestly humbled. to be honoured. You go through life just doing what you do but clearly it’s touching some people’s lives.

“Military charities are doing such a good job but often the average employer doesn’t recognise the transferability of skills. Military personnel can mix with people from lots of different backgrounds and they have strong work ethics – all of these skills are wonderfully transferable.  I’m all about getting individuals to excel. By doing that, organisations can thrive and communities can then thrive and we all get a higher standard of living.”

Sue will collect her award later in the year.

Everyone at DMWS send their warmest wishes to Sue on this fantastic achievement.
